Interestingly, the same survey reveals that 71% of SMEs with more than 20 employees have implemented a training plan. However, only 55% of the 481 Belgian SMEs surveyed will meet the 30 September deadline to inform employees of their individual training rights. It\u2019s unfortunate that some Belgian workers hesitate to engage in <a href=\"https:\/\/catenacompany.be\/en\/resources\/customized-trainings\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"3849\">training<\/a>, especially when it offers so much more than just sitting through lectures and taking notes.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why workers are reluctant to attend training&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-4cada0c\" data-block-id=\"4cada0c\"><style>.stk-4cada0c {margin-bottom:32px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">This trend isn\u2019t limited to Belgium. Neighbouring countries like France (32%), the Netherlands (40%), and Germany (32%) also see significant reluctance among workers to participate in <a href=\"https:\/\/catenacompany.be\/en\/resources\/customized-trainings\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"3849\">training<\/a>. For Belgian workers, the main reason cited is a lack of time (38%). However, a majority (64%) say they prefer to learn \u201con the job\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The number of training days required&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-9ebf749\" data-block-id=\"9ebf749\"><style>.stk-9ebf749 {margin-bottom:32px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Last year brought a key change: training rights shifted from collective to individual. This year, companies with at least 20 employees must provide four training days per full-time employee. In 2024, this number will increase to five days, though it may vary by sector and company size. While employees are not obligated to use these training days, employers must make them available.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-c667940\" data-block-id=\"c667940\"><style>.stk-c667940 {margin-bottom:32px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">But is this many training days really necessary? The survey shows that most Belgian workers believe 3 to 5 training days per year (29%) are ideal, followed by those who favour more than 6 days per year (27%). Only a small group supports more than 10 training days per year.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How about your training plan?&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-5039178\" data-block-id=\"5039178\"><style>.stk-5039178 {margin-bottom:32px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Although the training plan deadline isn\u2019t until April 2024, most SMEs (with over 20 employees) are already preparing. With the upcoming changes to training entitlements, it\u2019s vital to start planning early.
