All the novelties in Adobe Photoshop 2023

Gepubliceerd op

What all can you do with the new features Adobe announced in relation to Photoshop during Adobe Max? There were a few more innovations within the Adobe Creative Cloud package. During our Adobe CC Event, we showed you the most interesting features. In this blog, we list them all again.

Neural Filters

Artificial intelligence, it could almost be the buzzword of the year. Several companies are making strides in this area, and AI is also gaining traction in social media trends. Adobe was not left behind and quickly jumped on the bandwagon.

This stunning technology can be found with neural filters. Yes, once again this year Adobe has expanded its neural filters. Thanks to the latest innovations, many filters already available in the beta version have been released. Now it’s up to you to download them. Another change is that nowadays the filters are not online, but they are right in your program. You will now be able to restore old photos even faster thanks to the new filter scratch reduction.

But be sure to try the landscape mixer, which allows you to change a landscape’s season, among other things. The results are really amazing!

Substance materials

Substance 3D has become a part of Adobe since last year. The full suite already had a huge library of materials that you could use to take your designs a level higher. Last year we already saw integration with Adobe Dimension and Illustrator. This year it’s the turn of Photoshop.

You will find several materials in the latest Photoshop version. Moreover, Adobe also offers you the ability to create and add additional materials yourself.

  • For example, create your own materials by photographing them with Adobe Capture
  • Or choose from many free materials
  • Or download paid materials

When you choose a material, it will fill all of your canvas as a smart object. At the bottom of the section with your materials, you can customize the object to your liking. Use these materials as background, filter, blending mode … the options are endless.

Share for review

The common thread throughout Adobe Max was collaboration and sharing your designs. Photoshop also announced the share for review option. When you used to have to export your file and email back and forth with your client, you wasted a lot of time. With this new share for review you just share a link and your client can give feedback directly online. You can do that through comments, or even by pointing out certain things on your design. You get to see the feedback directly in workspace. Importantly, your client does not need an Adobe license for this.

What an increase in efficiency. Right?

Delete & fill and enhanced selection

Furthermore, Adobe added some other smaller novelties.

  • Delete & fill: Want to delete an object and then fill the empty space again? Then there is now a brand new shortcut: SHIFT+DEL

Photoshop will remove the object and fill the empty space content aware wise using AI technology.

  • With major investments in Adobe Sensei, Adobe continues to make great strides, including in their selection capabilities. Again this year, there are a lot of new features involved here. The speed of selection has improved considerably and the selection capabilities are becoming more and more precise. This saves a huge amount of time.

Photoshop online

Good news for everyone who doesn’t have an Adobe license (yet). You can now use Photoshop online. For now, however, this is the beta version, but that certainly does not mean that this version is inferior. Are you already a little familiar with Photoshop? Then you will quickly get the hang of the online version.

What can you already expect in Photoshop online?

  • Share for review
  • Layers
  • Masks
  • Selection tools
  • Freestanding images
  • Effects (such as blur)
  • Add external files to your composition via drag & drop

Photoshop online contains so many familiar features that it’s like being in Photoshop itself. The online version is the ideal way to apply effects at lightning speed.
