Two programs can communicate flawlessly with each other thanks to an API. A strong API enables even stronger integrations. Thanks to the extensive Bynder API, even the most impossible problems can be solved.
The binding factor
The basis of a strong integration is the API. And just now, let Bynder own an API. But what is an API? API stands for Application Programming Interface. An API allows two programs to communicate with each other. You can compare it to a waiter in a restaurant. You say what you would like to eat and the waiter passes it on to the kitchen. Thus, the kitchen prepares what you want without communicating directly with you. What makes Bynder’s API so unique is that it is completely open. That is, anyone can use this application. There are several workflows that have become even more efficient thanks to integration with Bynder’s API.
Standard integrations with Bynder range from content management systems like Salesforce to social media management platforms like Hootsuite. The integration that makes many marketers shout hallelujah is the integration with creative and office applications such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 365. Finally, you can find all your assets on one platform.
In addition, you have the Universal Compact View. You can easily link this integration component with your web application thanks to the handy Bynder API. This way, you can add assets from your DAM system to your design. On the smaller view of the platform, you can search and filter assets as you are used to. So there is no need to learn a new interface.
How do you use API for your business? A case study from one of our clients.
In 2022, a client came to Catena Company full of desperation. They were in possession of a fantastic archive of as many as 16,000 informational resources. Documents that predated the digital newspaper had already been scanned and named by some diligent employees. The problem? The archive had grown so large over the years that it was nearly impossible to find anything. Did you venture to search anyway? Then you spent hours trying to find the right document. As a result, not only was the archive of little use, but a lot of valuable content was lost.
Bynder’s API makes their DAM system tremendously accessible. This allowed Catena Company to offer a customized solution to the client. Using an external application, PDFs were downloaded via the Bynder API, forwarded to an online OCR service from Adobe and then returned as an extra version in the Bynder DAM. OCR reads your document, recognizes the text and then stores it in an additional layer in the PDF. The big advantage of OCR or optical character recognition is that the text in images is indexed and the document is instantly searchable. If you are looking for a document that contains the word “DAM”, Bynder collects it immediately.
The result of this collaboration? A searchable archive brimming with valuable content that can be easily reused.
But that’s not the only thing. The strong collaboration between Bynder and Catena Company has led to several developments based on this unique API.
- Automatically import large quantities.
- Migration of Assets coming from other DAM systems.
- Removal of files from Bynder based on XML files.
- Adding large amounts of metaproperties.
- Merge and upload large video files via the API.
- At fixed intervals export metadata to an XML file to be read by other systems.
In short, Bynder’s fully open API has many advantages:
- Extremely accessible.
- No need to know a new interface.
- Customized solutions can be offered.
